Centro de Periodismo Investigativo
Centro de Periodismo Investigativo fills a critical need for watchdog journalism in Puerto Rico, providing oversight of powerful figures and institutions and defending the public’s access to information.
Already a trusted news source locally, the organization gained national prominence in 2019 after its reporting on government corruption resulted in the resignation of Puerto Rico’s governor. Publishing in both Spanish and English, the newsroom produces regular and ongoing investigative reporting on political corruption, campaign financing, government spending, public policy, and climate change.
With support from the American Journalism Project, CPI is working to broaden support for investigative journalism in Puerto Rico and expand to serve Puerto Ricans on the mainland.
