Texas Public Radio

Texas Public Radio (TPR) is San Antonio’s largest nonprofit news organization and an essential independent media voice spanning South-Central Texas. Broadcast across seven non-commercial stations — anchored by flagship news station KSTX and classical station KPAC — and driving digital journalism through the San Antonio Report and TPR.org, TPR delivers trusted local, national, and international reporting alongside world-class cultural programming. 

Texas Public Radio launched in San Antonio in 1982 as a classical music station. In 1988, it expanded to include news, covering everything from critical border and military reporting to education, local government, and the rich arts and culture of South-Central Texas. In 2026, TPR combined with the digital nonprofit newsroom San Antonio Report, creating a stronger, multiplatform news organization.

With support from the American Journalism Project, Texas Public Radio is building the revenue, audience, and operational capacity needed to expand our public service journalism, deepen our regional collaborations, and ensure every community across South and Central Texas has access to the news they depend on.
