Tina Dyakon

Senior Vice President, Growth Investments

Tina leads the organization’s grantmaking strategy and oversees a team of Success Partners. In this role, she guides the American Journalism Project’s portfolio organizations in unlocking sustainable growth, strengthening operations, and deepening their community impact. Tina also leads AJP’s efforts to scout and evaluate new investment opportunities and plays a key role in shaping the organization’s venture support strategy.

Before joining AJP, Tina was a senior director at the nonprofit Poynter Institute, where she launched its experience and events division following senior leadership roles as marketing director and advertising director. Her earlier career spans leadership in local news, destination marketing, and advertising agencies, where she built and executed strategies across business development, operations, sales, and marketing.

Tina lives in St. Petersburg, Florida with her pug Leo. Outside of work, she enjoys sailing, strength training and exploring new places.

Tina serves as a Success Partner to Block Club Chicago, Cardinal News, El Paso Matters, Nashville Banner, Salt Lake Tribune, VT Digger and WFAE.

Success Partners provide close support to our portfolio organizations over the course of their grant and serve as their advisor and main liaison to the American Journalism Project.
