Stephen George

Stephen leads our local news initiatives from early exploration through public launch, guiding community partnerships, research, and fundraising efforts that lay the foundation for new investments.

George has spent most of his career in journalism — as a reporter, editor and executive. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Louisville Public Media (LPM), where he led a major expansion of its newsroom, products, audience and revenue development. He previously served as executive editor of LPM, where he led a team that produced Peabody Award-winning journalism.

George is a public director on the NPR Board of Directors and an active member of Louisville’s nonprofit community, serving on the Actors Theatre of Louisville Board of Directors. Previously, he served in the congressional offices of two members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

He is based in Louisville.
