Flannery Berg

Flannery supports our portfolio in building effective financial systems and strengthening their capacity in financial planning and analysis as part of our Knight Resiliency Lab team.

Flannery is a strategic operations and finance leader with over fifteen years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Before joining the American Journalism Project, Flannery worked with BDO’s Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisor Team (previously Fiscal Management Associates), where she partnered alongside a variety of nonprofits, helping them plan for and achieve their strategic goals, drive operational improvements, and transform their financial results and capacity. Flannery also served as an interim strategic financial leader to clients and led the development of BDO’s services, supporting organizations in transitioning from fiscal sponsorship to independent operations.

Previously, Flannery led cross-functional, systems-building initiatives at nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C., including the Fund for Global Human Rights, an international public foundation supporting human rights organizations around the globe, and the American Task Force on Palestine, a foreign policy advocacy organization.

Flannery holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and daughter. Outside of work, Flannery volunteers as treasurer for Kid Power, plays the harp, and enjoys running in Rock Creek Park.
