Amar Rajwani
Amar serves as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, overseeing finance, operations, and administration to ensure the organization is resourced, equipped, and aligned to deliver on its vision with excellence. He also co-leads the American Journalism Project’s people strategy and human resources.
Amar has spent most of his career in early childhood education, having worked as a preschool teacher, program director, network leader and policymaker at the systems level. Recently, Amar played a key role in expanding pre-K access in New York City. At the NYC Department of Education, he led a team of 60 supporting a portfolio of 1,000 early-childhood contracted providers with a total annual budget of $1 billion.
Amar holds an MPA from CUNY Baruch College and a BA in creative writing from CUNY Queens College. A born-and-raised New Yorker, Amar lives in Queens with his wife, Courtney, and their two daughters.
Amar serves on the boards of Mountain State Spotlight and Nonprofit New York.
