Tyrell Byrd

Tyrell manages the day-to-day operations of the American Journalism Project, supporting internal systems, financial strategy, and culture, and leads our grants management operations.

Prior to joining American Journalism Project, Tyrell spent almost a decade in operations, finance and information technology roles for nonprofits and commercial businesses. Tyrell enjoys taking on new challenges to better streamline organizational policies, standards and practices that enhance and promote internal collaborations.

During his spare time, Tyrell uses photography as a medium to capture and tell the stories of those in his community. Tyrell graduated summa cum laude from Monroe College in New York. Tyrell is based in Maryland.
