Our partnerships

We collaborate with mission-aligned partners to advance and accelerate our work.

Our partnerships allow us to reach more communities, learn about innovative approaches to advancing local news, and expand the support we offer our portfolio. Each collaboration plays a vital role in building sustainable local news.

Specialized support partners

We work with partners who provide targeted support to address the operational and legal needs of nonprofit newsrooms. These partners give portfolio organizations access to specialized guidance and opportunities for collective learning that strengthen both individual organizations and the field.

BlueLena

Our work with BlueLena, an audience development consultancy, provides the organizations in our portfolio with the infrastructure, tools and strategic guidance they need to build sustainable reader revenue programs.

Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press

Weโ€™ve partnered with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to expand access to tailored legal services for the nonprofit newsrooms we support. Through this collaboration, RCFP is working directly with organizations in our portfolio to assess legal needs, build preventative systems and strengthen day-to-day operations.

Product & AI Studio partners

Through our Product & AI Studio, weโ€™re building a collaborative space for smart experimentation at the intersection of journalism, product and technology.

Policy partnerships

We’ve formed partnerships to ensure that the voices of nonprofit and independent local newsrooms are represented in policy conversations and that emerging solutions create stronger conditions for sustainability.

 Corporate partners

Companies have an important role to play in strengthening local news. Corporate partnerships with organizations like these unlock new resources, bring additional expertise, and expand the reach of portfolio organizations in the communities they serve.

Learning partnerships

We support innovative ideas and projects that bring together unique collaborators to solve complex problems and transform the landscape for local news.

The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY

The mission of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY is to prepare outstanding journalists to make a difference as they transform journalism. We partnered with J+ at the school to develop a new certificate for nonprofit leaders who were new to nonprofit journalism. The Nonprofit News Business Certificate has selected and trained more than 40 leaders.

Local Philanthropic Partnerships

We work with civic leaders, local philanthropists, and foundations and business leaders to identify and address community information gaps with smart, sustainable solutions.
