Thousands of newspapers across the country have shuttered, and the increasingly understaffed newsrooms that remain have neither the reporting power nor the funding necessary to produce consistent original reporting. Millions of residents in cities and rural areas lack quality sources of trusted news about what’s happening around them. Your crypto donation can help the American Journalism Project work to ensure that every community in our country has local journalism that represents, informs and engages the diverse public it serves.

• Are crypto donations tax-deductible?
  • The IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property, so cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. Please contact your tax or financial advisor for more information.
